My dad's side of the family will have the annual St. Patrick's Day party/get together. I sure wish my dad could be up here to see the whole family. St. Patty's Day is always an enjoyable day! Good Food, and good company!

Now I'm not entirely sure how to take your post, especially when it's in the ST. PATRICK'S thread.

I'm going to give you two responses to this.

If you're a tad miffed for some reason that there's a St. Patrick's Day, cross off the name "Patrick" on the calender and replace it with George and celebrate it whatever way you see fit.

Second response.....

Us Irish don't care who celebrates it as it's our holiday, and it's not one for merely a night out on the piss or whatever, and some of us celebrate it by going to mass with family and having it as a family day. The rest of the world has their own idea of what it should be and that's their prerogative.

Why not be enthusiastic about something in life instead of always finding negatives or a conspiracy? Surly life has to be more than that?

Either way...... Beannachtai na Féile Pàdraig!

Black and Tans? Bloody hell, I've never known an ice cream to be named after a bunch of murderous bastards before!

"The term Black and Tans refers to the Royal Irish Constabulary Reserve Force, which was one of two paramilitary forces employed by the Royal Irish Constabulary from 1920 to 1921, to suppress revolution in Ireland"

Even if he wasn't a McCarthy there's good enough reason to go to the Irish bar up the way. It's another day and you're breathing so reason enough! lol

My friend rang me up this morning and said there's a wee film about the Irish pub we're going to tonight on my cable service so I'll get it later on and put it up so you can see where I'm going to. It's quite a lovely place.

Hope you have a good one darlin :cheers1:

People over here use the term "Black and Tan" to refer to a stout.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_and_Tan

Notice the difference when it's not plural. And you'll notice at the top of the wiki entry the disambigution between that and black and tanS.

I also thought the pint of stout by the cow was pretty obvious myself.
