Official terrorism

I was just looking for more info about Galloway in Iran and found this. If you know any other stories that are state-sanctioned terrorism (by any country) please post them.

On July 3, 1988, an Iranian commercial plane en route to Dubai from Bandar Abbas was hit by two missiles fired from the US Navy warship USS Vincennes, which claimed the lives of all on board 290 passengers, including 66 children, and crew.

I remember when this took place and was baffled at how they could mistake a passenger airliner for a fighter jet. One can only conclude it was intentional. Since they paid $62 mil without any admission of guilt, I guess that makes it ok.

yeah, that's the thing - that ship had the Aegis defence system. It's unbelievable that it was an accident. It was only a few months after the PA103 over Lockerbie notably.

The wiki page that I linked has some excellent information btw. It's not often I'd link there for something serious, but the detail is pretty impressive.

I wasn't actually aware of this as I was travelling about a lot at the time.
