I have been to Mumbai twice, in the colaba ditrict where the Taj hotel is situated.
Every evening after 10 p.m, there were nothing but destitutes sleeping on the pavement, with rats lurking around without a scant notice, as if they were an ordinary part of their life.
Whenever we left a retaurant, we were ambushed by a dozen childeren begging for some rupees. if you gave one of them money, the rest would follow you for so long untill some Indian would tell them off. After a while I began to to get depressed.
I don't wanna go in to details, but I told my wife I'd never go back there again.
"The Reliance Group, founded by Dhirubhai H. Ambani (1932-2002), is India's largest private sector enterprise, with businesses in the energy and materials value chain. Group's annual revenues are in excess of US$ 27 billion. The flagship company, Reliance Industries Limited, is a Fortune Global 500 company and is the largest private sector company in India."
That's capitalism for you .. a few ultra rich winners .. and the rest losers
Am I the only one who thinks that tower looks like it'll fall over at the 1st stiff breeze? You'd think for $1 bil, you could afford an engineer.
To think that at the moment he and his family (and their 600 servants) are crammed into a mere 14 stories. This will at least give them a little breathing room.
You know...I have no problem with people being rich. I think it is your right to aspire to be as wealthy as you want. However, this shit just pisses me off. Who the fuck needs a house like that? And there are still billions more to be spent. Selfish bastard. He should be shot. Ok...maybe he does donate to charities and feed the homeless bla bla bla. So build a million dollar home and give the rest to charity. Prick.
Who could possibly need 600 servants? I've literally been sitting here for 10 minutes thinking that if I were so massively rich and up my own ass that I paid servants to do each different thing for me, I'd still struggle to have tasks for 20, let alone 600.
And considering his house only boasts a measly 168 parking spaces, one can assume the people he is employing are incredibly poor.
