Professor who criticized Bush added to terrorist no-fly list

When inquiring with a clerk why he was on the list, Murphy was asked if he had participated in any peace marches.

"We ban a lot of people from flying because of that," a clerk said.

Murphy then explained that he had not marched, but had "in September, 2006, given a lecture at Princeton, televised and put on the Web, highly critical of George Bush for his many violations of the Constitution."

The clerk responded, "That'll do it."

you get banned from flying if you take part in peace marches? I wonder what the logic is there... do they think a plane might get hijacked by middle-aged women singing hymns?

It is to scare people not to leave their homes or be heard .. unless to support "our boys" (by putting them in harm's way)

Nice find, Faceless. I'll be interested in seeing what he could possibly have said that could justify his being black-listed like this.

Sure, there's still free speech, as long as you limit it to those "free speech zones."

I have faith in Americans, though (if not in their government). I can't imagine the people will put up with this stuff for very long.

Hearing the millions Obama got in campaign funding (almost as much as Hilary), Obama has been "bought" by the MIC

https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/6526685.stm

Hillary Clinton - $26m
Barack Obama - $25m
Mitt Romney - $23m
Rudy Giuliani - $15m
John Edwards - $14m
John McCain - $12.5m

Needing to raise this amount of money to be in politics is not healthy for democracy (since it makes politicians beholden to their largest contributors).

So far I prefer Richardson over all the other Democrats.

Interesting. I'm partial to Kucinich.

I heard Kucinich in London last month, seemed awfully moderate and flaky to me despite his radical reputation.
Maybe what America needs is a Gorbachev, who tries to reform the empire only to see it collapse entirely. Though I wouldn't wish the present state of the former Soviet Union on anyone.
