Lou Dobbs had an opinion poll on CNN tonight and I was wondering what people here thought.
The question was:
Do you feel offended if a Christian wishes you Happy Holidays or if a Jew wishes you Happy Hanukkah?
My opinion is this. I feel people are taking themselves far too seriously these days and all this so called political correctness has gone too far.
I don't really care what religion or anything else a person is. If it's a time to celebrate that's within my culture or time of year for so many millions then I'll say it to anyone. It's not meant as a negative but a positive, and if the person I say it too sees it any different then it's their problem.
What do you all think?

No way am I offended. So someone takes the time to express a kind wish to someone else and I should be offended. What makes Christmas any better than any other cultural holiday. And I wouldn't have a problem with anyone putting up any of they're cultural decorations at work either. Why not? I think it's a good idea to learn about other cultures and their beliefs, just as they do ours.

It's a fucking NATIONAL HOLIDAY that spans over 80% of the civalized world...
We shouldn't have any qualms with people wishing us a happy whatever....
All this political correctness has just gone way way too far now.
Add all the extra comercialism of the festive season & it even starts to make kids sick of it all way before the last week of December.
We have no problem when a person of any religion or minority wishes us a Happy New year... even if theirs isn't at the same time...
What pisses me off the most tho'...
The people who do complain and wish to do away with the 'Happy Christmas' signs, cards etc...
These fuckers are making good coin out of the whole damn thing...
Wal-Mart over here along with a few larger stores decided it was incorrect to have 'Happy Christmas' Banners & such in their ads, they decided to try & get the rest of the country to adopt a "No Christmas Message"...
These are the same people who by the first week of October this year were selling Christmas decorations...
Are these items labled 'Holiday goods, or seasonal decorations...?
Are they fuck, right there on all the packing is the word CHRISTMAS.
We shouldn't have any qualms with people wishing us a happy whatever....

I agree, Irish.... you're very passionate and it was well said. And Sky, you hit the nail on the head when you said people don't mean anything but to wish you the joy of their holiday, not trying to convert you.IRiSHMaFIA wrote:I love the passion in your post about this. You know, you could turn the tables and say that people are trying to discriminate against Christians by tryng to say that they can't say/use Christmas publicly.
