If you're using Firefox 3 or higher, you can also make sure your plug-ins are up-to-date using their plugin check.
My own testing of FF4 so far is that it is snappier than 3.6.15. As always, however, some extensions are (temporarily) disabled until their developers update them for the new version. (These include MR Tech Toolkit and Tree Style Tab on my systems.)
