When listening last night it struck me that GG was using the same argument against the idea that families should only have two children as the owners of pit bulls use as their defence - that it's all about responsibility.

I don't think it is about responsibility any more, I used to. I think some dogs are just too volatile.
I walk our lad every day. He's now 15 months old, and if I see one of these things (the pit bull type), coming close I move away.

This is a desperately sad story, and I feel terribly sad for all concerned. However, this story came three days after a 16 year old girl died in a sledging accident. I haven't listened to last night's show yet, but I wonder if he dedicated any time to calling for the rounding up and destruction of all sledges in the UK? I don't mean to trivialise the issue here, and I recognise that one death from a dog attack is one too many, but I can't help feeling suspicious of Galloway's agenda and I am critical that he appears considerably less vocal about things such as road safety outside schools when tens of children are knocked down every year crossing the road. But then, a child being knocked down on their way to school rarely makes the front pages these days.

the thing is, that sledging, driving cars and pretty well everything else is about peoples responsibility. people can't be held responsible for what dogs do. other than not have 'em in the first place ...

Maybe so. But people ARE responsible when they leave a child alone in a room with a dog. Something that any responsible dog owner, myself included, would never, ever do.

thing is that it's always the same breeds that kill children. the breeds that are bred for killing. get rid of 'em.

it's not the dogs fault, it's the fault of the ignorant irresponsible fucks that breed and buy 'em. is it really a responsible act to breed dogs specifically for killing and then sell them to any one?

i don't think we should leave kids alone with any dog, but they shouldn't get the chance to be alone with these fucking things.
