Jerry Lewis

VETERAN comedian Jerry Lewis is under fire again for making an anti-gay slur on Australian television similar to one for which he apologised for using on his annual US telethon a year ago. The 82-year-old made the slur when he was asked by a reporter for Network Ten TV for his opinion on the Australian national sport of cricket.

"Oh, cricket? It's a fag's game. What are you, nuts?" Lewis replied.

The network broadcast the comment in full on its evening news bulletin last night along with footage of Lewis handling an imaginary cricket bat with an effeminate gesture. Lewis apologised in September last year for using the term "illiterate fag" during his annual Labor Day telethon that raises money for the Mus-cular Dystrophy Association.

I think of Jerry Lewis as one of those old timers who is set in his old fashioned bigoted ways and you just can't change an old dog. I just consider it senior citizen drivel.

On another note: I never liked Jerry Lewis "the comedian" anyway. I never thought he was funny. I thought he was more annoying than anything.

On his MDA telethoning: I think its great that he's dedicated himself to raising millions for this charity, although I remember working as a billing clerk in the 80's for a medical supply company, and they only gave like a 500 dollar max to the person's supplies, though maybe in the 80's that's alot of money, but if you get monthly supplies, it's not much.
