Thanks to Face posting about the old '30s American expression "to shag" meaning "to follow or copy" someone I remembered a website I came across a few months ago and never got round to posting about. It also has an unintentional double meaning for Brits...
Trust me, this website is NOTHING like it sounds: Extreme Bumming! It's actually about the nightlife on Long Island, USA.
Anyone know of any other websites with alarmingly misleading names?

Hey Pirty, you're from Long Island... which begs a very rude question! haha
Ha ha! Never heard of these guys, and they look too young to be a part of the night life...LOL! Never heard of bumming, other than "bumming a cigarette off of someone". Looks like some teeny bopper kids doing teeny bopper pranks and whatnot.

While I knew the term was very different over in the UK, I know over here people wouldn't even think twice. We bummed around all summer as kids
It's just like when my friend was looking for scrubbers for her fish tank and just typed in the word "scrubber" to the google search. She couldn't figure out why she got pictures of whorish girls
we use it like that as well, although not much - people would know what you meant

Hehehe, I also remember a substitute teacher we had once who was from dahn saaf (down south) and he said to the whole class "Just because I'm only here for a short while doesn't mean you can all just sit there tossing off" and the class erupted in laughter.
I think tossing off to him meant slacking and doing no work, but to us it conjured up a mental image of all the lads in the class simultaneously wanking like bonobos at their desks.
