People I need Your Ideas :) Soon :)

Post by Aja »

Its coming up for my Annual Abbis birthday cookout .....her birthday is the 26th of May ....which is a holiday here......Memorial weekend .....and also the start of summer :)
Abbis birthday cook out started when she was 2 days old ......we had friends over from the UK and we cooked out the day she came home from the hospital .....That particular time i made burgers and Teriaki chicken and my Infamous Spanish rice .....

Well the cook out has continued over the years and this will be the 7th ......Its never really been a kids Party ..cos most peeps go away to the beach this weekend ..but we have always put the kids pool out and its always been fun .......This Year we are going a lil bit silly and Abbi and her friends are going to do a karoke show ...(should be funny ) and we will be doing an American idol type judging thing ..... (I will be simon of course)

To date i have a bout 30 Adults and 10 kids coming (sighs)

I wanted to change things up a bit this year food wise ......

so I will be doing my Infamous Burgers and my special rolls

hot dogs

The infamous Spanish Rice

A Twist this Year will be I will have zillions of chicken Kebabs .....with 4 choices of barbie sauce ......

Reggae reggae sauce being one (i have saved 4 bottles for 5 months)

An Asian sauce we made up

Teriaki sauce

and a Wicked straight up Barbie sauce .....That we made up ....

potato Salad
Cole Slaw

A fruit Salad to go with the Birthday cake .....

Ok what I need Ya help for is Appetizers

I normally do just chips and Dips ......

Give me some Interesting Ideas ........I am counting On U all :) also I will take fun ideas for Kids stuff too.......

Cheers Aja

PS You are all Invited if U can make it :)

For appetizer's I love taking shrimp, wrapping them in bacon and either cooking them in the over or bbqing them.
Also, jalapenos that have been cut in half, deseeded, filled with cream cheese wrapped in bacon and baked in the oven at 350 for about 30 mins.

I so wish I could come Aja, but I think I have to work on the 26th :( which really sucks because I would love to go now that I am closer!
EDIT: just looking at the calendar and I may have the day off! So maybe I can make it!

Perhaps you should have a full Hawaiian Luau with a Kalua pig

Go on Aja - we know you can do it.

Failing that, just don't forget the twiglets and cheese 'n' pineapple on sticks.

Aja, I like the chips and dip idea for an appetizer and I'm not ashamed to say it. here's why: you've got an absolute butt load of interesting foods, with the emphasis on load and interesting. A ton of interesting and good food that appeals to all ages. Chips are so portable, even for kids. Save the money as well as the prep and clean up time. Put out Abbi's favorite dip, call it something cute and it'll be perfect...since you asked.

Of course, to make it extra classy - don’t forget to cover half an orange (or grapefruit, melon?) with foil and stick the little beggers in there.
