The London Assembly election

Here's a few results from the London election so far - in the 'Weavers Ward' Respect got about 20% of the votes cast, which isn't bad at all.

Doros Ullah (Labour) - 1,421
Mohammed Nasir Uddin (Liberal Democrat) - 370
Jeffrey Marshall (British National Party) - 219
Reza Mahbob (Respect [George Galloway]) - 170
Rebecca Jane Townesend (Left List) - 83
Rejected votes - 69

Voter turnout - 4465 (38.58 per cent)



Weavers ward

Fazlul Haque (Labour) - 1,421
John David Griffiths (Liberal Democrat) - 930
Dilwara Begum (Respect [George Galloway]) - 637
Gias Uddin Ahmed (Conservative) - 435
Russell Pick (British National Party) - 154
Sara Ann Julia Dixon (Independent) - 143
Niru Murshid - 77

Voter turnout - 3,898 (47.72 per cent)

so Galloway's just announced that he got 66000 votes - that's certainly not anywhere close to the 5% required... it will be interesting to see the amount that the SWP got.

I'm really surprised that Londoners voted him in. He's a nice enough buffoon, but I'd not want him in charge of my town. Come to think of it, I can't think of the name of the person who runs Glasgow... haha

It seems that The Left List got 16000 votes in the Assembly election - I hope that shuts up some of the louder blogger types...
