The power of the internet v. the stupid TSA

It really just shows that not only does the left hand not know what the right is doing but it's just a big mess and we are no safer now than we were before. They just like to say we are because we have to buy water on the other side of the check point. The fact that they would be doing this without approval just shows the attitude these people have to our security. They get this inflated idea of who they are and the importance the have. They are worse than mall police. A good example is just one of the recent stories I have from air travel.

When I was flying this last December I had a fountain pen in my purse. It's a large silver one. My bag got pulled to the side. The TSA lady took my bag and pulled it out with a stern look on her face. She opened the pen, then shaking her head and heaving a heavy, dramatic, sigh she looked at me and with a serious, even sterner face and said "Do you know what this looks like?" I was perplexed by this question because I knew what it looked like, so I simply replied "It looks like a pen." I guess this is not what she was thinking because if looks could kill (or arrest you for being honest) she puffed out her chest and practically spit "No! It does NOT look like a PEN, it looks like a carpenter knife." I couldn't see it, so I said "No it doesn't, it looks like a pen." She heaved another heavy sigh, looked through my purse the rest of the way, maybe hoping for a carpenter pen and gave me back my bag. She's keeping our planes safe from terrorists people :dancer:

ImageA fountain pen that's a bit fancier than mine but about the right size and shape

It smacks of someone making up rules "because they can". Let's watch all the silly travelers jump thru hoops. A little bit of power goes to some people's heads...

That's exactly it. They've taken senseless dopes who couldn't get a job at McDonalds now wielding power over defenseless travelers. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to blatantly tell one of these idiots to go F themselves. It's stressful as it is having to travel all day and in some cases all night long, only to have some oaf barking out orders without any smile and without any sense of humanity. It's not so much the rules, but the people they have enforcing those rules.
