40 gigs down sounds great, but you have to remember that you can only download as fast as a server can give out, so really it'd be complete overkill. It'd be like owning a car that's capable of a thousand miles per hour. Fucking useless.

It sounds great, but the problem would come where you're trying to access information that's stored on slow servers. To be honest though, I don't mind waiting 10 minutes on my 20mb connection for a full xvid movie or whatever.

Hi Ash,

Downstream is what most people use the link for : browsing web sites which have images and movies.

Upstream is when, as an example, faceless has a locally edited movie, and he wants to upload it to Humyo or YouTube.

it means that Mandy's taking the piss! haha

Virgin media currently offer 20mb/s connection, which in effect means about 2mb/s of actual data download and about 90k/s upload, so a 40gb/s system using the same ratios would be about 200x faster.

Who needs 40 gig net? Damn, i'd be happy with a 100 meg internet connection at home so i wouldn't have to purchase servers for torrenting!
