Yeah, I agree Aja. First of all, Kev wouldn't let Carly ride in that car for a minute. Second how is Yolande giving driving lessons when she just took her first lesson last week.
Wouldn't it have been better for Yolande to be driving on her own for the first time and the brakes fail while Kev is crossing the street and he gets killed(that's drama) or if Carly was driving and did the same thing, killing her own father(that's drama). Taking a joyride with another character that most people don't like not drama. That crash was pretty lame in all.

I think Carly was taking Yolande out for a lesson - probably taking her to a quieter location before letting Yolande take the wheel.thatcomedian wrote:Yeah, I agree Aja. But I agree with your suggestion that it would have been better to have been Yolande knocking Kevin down while she was driving the car. The way they did it was very rushed and badly written.
Re: New Years Eve
At the start of the new years eve episode Shirley was outside the 'lock up' / garage when the guys were looking at the bad welding job under Yolanda's car...thatcomedian wrote:How did Shirley know that Kev was selling dodgy motors?
She heard Mitchel telling Kevin how bad it was, Kevin complaining about it & Mitchel saying it'd be OK as long as it wasn't in any kind of acident...
As for Kevin's daughter driving... indeed, she was in the driving seat as she was taking Yolanda off to 'somewhere safe' for a lesson, also.. she had just 'fixed' the car after Kevin had messed with it...
I personaly wouldn't let a 'new driver' behind the wheel of a car having repaired it myself without test driving it...
It all kinda' makes sense.
It appeared that way a little in the New Years Eve episode, I think it was perhaps due to the large conveluted plots shot around that time, lets face it, during that time frame they shot the entire Christmas eve, Xmas day shows & still had the New years eve & day show along with the rest of the plot lines in the run up to Xmas & after new year stuff...Twirley wrote:The way they did it was very rushed and badly written.
Time was certainly taken for the following days episode... some very very nice touches indeed, but I will not post spoilers, just a few touching moments & nice 'visuals'.

The New Year's day episode rubbed me the wrong way. And then Carly's blood curdling scream in the morgue made it worse.
I think Phil Mitchell was obviously worried about getting implicated in Kevin's death. Who else knows about the condition of the cars besides Darren? Just Shirley? Pat doesn't know, right?
What do you suppose we were to think of the episode's ending? We saw Max alone, R&R under the covers in bed, Denise staring at Kevin in the morgue, Tanya with her girls, and a few others.
Whoops, I forgot Minty and Hazel were seen at the end of the episode too. With Summer I believe.

I think Carly's reaction was spot on and if she didn't scream at the sight of her dad on a slab at the morgue then I'd be let down as he is the only family she had as Dean is banged up and her relationship with Shirley is awful, but it was nice when she let Shirley come in with her to view Kev. The scenes between Kev and Shirley were good except for his goofy cross eyed expressions sometimes made him look constipated rather than dying.
Got to agree with you on those comments, misslisalynn. Generally, I thought that episode was better written than the one before. It even brought out a much more compassionate side to Shirley. I also thought Denise saying her goodbyes to Kevin was touching...especially her hesitant kiss at the end. If you've ever seen someone dead it's not a nice situation as the body is cold and it's hard to touch them. (Sorry for the details there!).misslisalynn wrote:I think Carly's reaction was spot on and if she didn't scream at the sight of her dad on a slab at the morgue then I'd be let down as he is the only family she had as Dean is banged up and her relationship with Shirley is awful, but it was nice when she let Shirley come in with her to view Kev. I'm with both of you on this one. It wasn't the best episode ever but I liked the way it was handled and I did shed a tear for Kevin.Twirley wrote:Got to agree with you on those comments, misslisalynn.
