I'm always impressed by pics of this but I didn't realise that the city was so close to it. I had this idea it was in the desert for some reason.

Not just the actual crowd around the Ka`aba but check out the surrounding streets! Must be an amazing thing to behold. Imagine sound as well! *whew*
