Nekokate's a capper...

Well done Kate - as I was saying in that Serafinowicz thread, it looks like you got it all right except for the aspect ratio. Nice one.

What card and software are you using?

I'm a fraud. I used the term "cap" loosely.

I downloaded the episode from mininova and chopped it up using Adobe Premier Elements.

ah well - it's not that difficult if you want to do it though. With one of those USB pdtv cards you could probably do it no hassle.

My nephew asked me to record an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live for him. I never watch it, but it gave me an excuse to try capping and converting to xvid and worked ok. So if there's ever an occasion where you want something capped from this side of the pond, let me know and I'll give it a shot. It may be a bit slow, though -- I can be a real lazy bugger.

nice one major - how about some Canadian docs that might not otherwise be widely seen? I've seen a few from CBC and they've all seemed pretty reliable.

I'll keep my eyes open. I've seen that some of them (eg. that one on Glasgow teen gangs) was available directly from CBC website. But the quality probably wasn't as good as a cap.

I'll post-em if I find anything interesting...

I've often thought about doing some real capping, but I only have a terrestrial TV and my aerial is crap. I can't get crystal clear pictures, so it would be useless.

Since I've been able to strip DRM from 4oD shows I can always get anything anyone wants as long as it's been on Channel 4, though...

yeah, you do need a good aerial - though one of those pdtv dongles would get a much better picture than a normal receiver though.

What's good on Channel 4 just now?

I've been downloading quite a bit, actually. I like Ugly Betty (although I doubt you'd be interested in that). Also they're currently offering every single episode of Father Ted for free, and Peep Show. I've also downloaded some documentaries for free, and there's that Karl Pilkington comedy lab with Greer and Icke...

All of which you're meant only to have for 3 days until the DRM runs out and the file becomes useless, but I have them for keeps, hehehe.

The Karl Pilkington thing would be great, and there's always room for Father Ted and Peep Show to be available. Could you upload some to humyo ye pirate?

OK, I'll start with that Pilkington thing and see how it goes. Do I need to rename the file *.ctr first, or can I leave it a *.wmv?

either or really - the rename thing is only so that I can give out individual file links.
