Blackpool CANCELLED
Blackpool CANCELLED
I have just personally confirmed this story is true. I initially thought it might have been "disinformation" ..
Globe shatters convention
This weekend's Mother of All Talk Shows Convention has had to be
cancelled after the owners of the venue where it was to take place
pulled the plug with only three days to go.
George Galloway MP is now suing the company which owns the Globe
Theatre, where the convention was booked, after the theatre owners
sent an email last night (Monday) unilaterally cancelling the event.
The Globe Theatre is one of Blackpool's best-known spots. The theatre
is owned by Blackpool Pleasure Beach Limited a company which, it has
now emerged, is a substantial donor to the Conservative party. The
original agreement and the contract were signed several weeks ago. A
substantial deposit was also paid. The theatre management could not
have been more obliging until late on Monday evening an email was sent
by the Globe's management company cancelling the booking.
The email from the Blackpool director David Cam argues that the
company can void the contract if its commercial interests are
endangered - not specifying how a peaceful gathering of supporters
could do that. However Cam would not make himself available to George
or his lawyers to explain why the company had decided at the last
minute to renege on the deal and spoil the weekend for hundreds of
people.
"My legal advice is that we will win substantial damages from this
company," said Galloway. "But that isn't the point. More than 500
supporters have paid to attend this convention and, not just that,
booked travel and hotels and I am absolutely devasted for them. It's
heartbreaking. I pledge to them that I will do whatever it takes to
make it up to them and to expose this deranged and despicable outfit.
I am declaring my own jihad on this craven David Cam and his
lickspittles."
George also pledged that everyone who had paid and booked would be
compensated and that a big party, free to all of these supporters,
would be thrown in Blackpool when the legal action is settled.
"We're now trying desperately to reach everyone who booked - some of
whom are already on the road, including a couple in a motorcycle
sidecar combination - to apologise that it won't now take place this
weekend and vowing that I will sue the rectum off Cam," said George.
"And I'm not a man who loses legal actions. I am mad and I will get
even on behalf of everyone."
George also urged anyone who knows of people en route to the event to
attempt to contact them. "We'll be going ballistic publicity-wise on
this, as well as ringing and emailing all of those on our lists, and I
just hope we can contact everyone," he said.

'You've made an enemy of me'
www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk
A CONVENTION by maverick MP and broadcaster George Galloway has been called off at four days' notice – after Pleasure Beach bosses decided he was too "politicised".
Mr Galloway was due at the park's Globe Theatre on Saturday – but the booking was cancelled by text just four days before his event, the Mother of all Talk Shows conference.
An email from Pleasure Beach company secretary and director David Cam said: "It has come to our attention only today and by reference to your website that the proposed event is to be more than a conference in terms that there is to be a live radio link with Talksport Radio and there is to be live entertainment... Furthermore, the supplemental pages are heavily politicised."
Mr Cam points to clauses in the contract with Mr Galloway's company Miranda Media Ltd allowing the Pleasure Beach to cancel any event which: "Would be prejudicial to our commercial interest, or may damage our reputation, or is likely to be illegal, immoral, racial, religious, sexual or disability discrimination."
But the fiery Bethnal Green and Bow MP and former Celebrity Big Brother star today told Pleasure Beach bosses he will see them in court – and warned: "You've made an enemy of me." He added: "We have no choice but to cancel. We have spent the last seven or eight hours trying to find an alternative venue. We have had no choice but to cancel and start a legal fight for compensation in the region of £100,000.
"It's also very bad for Blackpool's reputation. They've made an enemy of me and of Talksport, as this was the annual convention of my radio show. It has to be politically motivated. It can't possibly have anything to do with my website. More than 500 people had bought tickets and we will now have to reimburse them. But people have also booked railway tickets, flight tickets and hotel bookings. It's a major disaster for us. You can be sure, on my radio show this weekend, I'll be taking aim."
The Pleasure Beach is no stranger to hosting politicians – just last month Conservative tourism spokesman Tobias Ellwood MP visited during the party conference. Nobody from the Pleasure Beach was today available to comment.

Blackpool Pleasure breach
We are now trying to contact everyone who bought a ticket or expressed an interest in going to Blackpool for the convention, cancelled at the last minute by David Cam, a director of Blackpool Pleasure Beach Ltd.
Over the next 24 hours we will be sending out forms (electronically or by post) to everyone who booked, which will quantify all losses. We have to get this information within 14 days as a part of our legal action against the company. These losses should include any irrecoverables like fares or hotel deposits, together with documentary proof if available.
The company, we have discovered, is a contributor to the Conservative party and according to our moles inside the organisation is effectively controlled by the Thompson family, Amanda and Nick, and Cam is described by one contributor as 'simply a minion'. So it is almost certain that Amanda Thompson is the person responsible for taking the decision and causing the substantial losses.
Earlier we posted both her and Cam's home addresses - freely available from Companies House - but the Blackpool police have very politely asked us to remove them, which we have now done. The company is based at Ocean Boulevard, Blackpool, Lancashire FY4 1EZ. Letters, comments, complaints and the like should be addressed to either or both of these people at the office.
We are building up a dossier on the company, the Thompson family and Cam and would welcome information from workers, friends, relatives, acquaintances and the like - particularly about working practices and political affiliations, donations etc. Information will, of course, be treated in confidence.
Personally, I can only apologise once more. But we wll be meeting when all of this is sorted.
George
----------------------
What the hell is this all about I wonder? Would Galloway like his home address to be posted and for his family to be potentially harassed, and would he need the police to tell him that was the act of a cunt? And then to ask for personal dirt on individuals?
I hope this article wasn't written by Galloway.
