Pulp Sports

I downloaded an episode of this last night as it was the first comedy series from New Zealand that I've heard of. I didn't know what to expect more than something that was probably linked to sport - it turns out to be roughly based around Jackass, though with a lot more thought and style to it.

The episode I watched (s5e07) has a reference to Jackass by suggesting they don't do anything that dangerous at all in that show - a piss take that has some merit when you consider the main stunt in the show is to go to an All Blacks game, dressed as an Australian fan, with a banner saying one of the main players was a cheat... he was lucky not to get a fat lip at least, but considering he'd already got a bloody nose from doing a boxing match in various shops, karma was balanced!

There are a lot more small stunts and pranks throughout the show, but the main difference from Jackass is that there is actually a story wrapped round the shorts. A bit like the way Beavis and Butthead would fill in the gaps between the music videos... basically a good laugh.
