probably :( we've built new places of worship now, shopping centres, pubs etc, these old ones are just getting in the way :wink2:

this seems a stupid idea, i don't know anything about the swiss peoples party, but i'm guessing with a policy like that they might be like the swiss version of our bnp

nothing but bad can come out of a policy like this - this just deepens any gap between people

I doubt it would happen - there's always idiots like this getting coverage in the news.

If it was for the noise from the Minaret, I could "understand", but they are against the Minaret on principle, even if no-one can see or hear it (e.g. in the middle of a private land which can't be seen or heard from outside).

Reminds me of the Taliban blowing up statues ..

Would the swiss peoples party want to demolish existing Minarets ? That is the logical inference.

p.s. This idea that 100,000 people can force a national vote, which goes into law IS PROMISING. Imagine a national vote on pulling out of Iraq/Afghanistan etc. and not renewing Trident early. That feels like Democracy (at least better than what we have now in the UK)

I wonder if this will be applied to church steeples as well.

Or bank towers.... (money is power, afterall, as the Swiss ought to know)

This is just silly.
