Could an SNP + LD block (30 + 12 = 42 so far) outvote a LAB + CON (32 + 7 = 39 so far)
Or would independence need more than 50% vote ?
Symbolically, wouldn't it be great if Labour had less seats than the SNP ..
Scottish elections 2007
In an independence vote, wouldn't labour and conservatives vote against the SNP + LD ?faceless wrote:I can't see the conservatives in a pact with Labour... it would be bad P.R. for both.
i.e. not a "pact", but a merging of interests on one issue.
We have seen the conservatives "rescue" Blair in a few instances (e.g. Iraq war, Iraq investigation)
The problem is that the Tories are basically hated up here, so if Labour were to be in cahoots with them it would probably cause uproar. They've already given up the majority of the socialist views that got them so much support in the past and this would be the last straw for a lot of people I'm sure.. I'm sure some tories wouldn't mind though as it's the only chance they'll ever have of a taste of power in the Scottish parliament.
