Kuwait was invaded because it was perceived the west would not intervene
The Falklands were invaded because Argentina thought Britain would not fight back
Poland was invaded because Germany thought the world would not fight.

I am a gobshite - I apologise to Vegas for the spelling slur, but I still disagree strongly with his politics, which make me shudder.

I am intrigued that you think my politics are extreme. I am of the opinion that you can only talk to people from a position of strength. Would you advocate disarming and hope that everyone are as nice as you.

Actually, I never said they were. Those are your words.

anyway, sky news has come forward with a report conducted before the arrest ...

The captain in charge of the 15 marines detained in Iran has said they were gathering intelligence on the Iranians.

I see no problem with them being detained...... wonder what wouold have happened if they found a group of Iranian sailors in British or US waters.

I don't know if it is just me, but while I was following the story on the captured sailors I did not get the impression they were forced to smile or had been held in isolation. I actually thought they genuinly didn't seem all that fused about being held captive as they weren't too worried about their safety. After their release however we hear about their ordeal. It sounds a bit unrealistic after the events over the last few day - at least to me! I am interested what other people think about this.
