What if ?.

Post by JWDread »

Hello
What if a friend of mine, just got a newish laptop, found the internet and downloaded everything that he could. Then, the newish laptop, so clogged up with stuff, most of which he cannot remember putting in, never mind know what to do with, lets him know, that he is very, very greedy and very foolish, then, starts playing nasty little games with me.

Sorry
It is me, I confess, can anybody please help?. :killpc:

I'd erase the stuff you don't need. But what kinds of nasty little games is it playing with you?

I'd dump as many audio/video files as possible on blank cds or dvds, then delete those files from your hard drive, then do a full system scan for spyware and viruses etc.

Thank you,
I have been getting rid of stuff all day, now it keeps freezing and not letting me close down.

Why not save yourself trouble and format and be done with it. If you can't sort things don't you feel formatting which takes no more than an hour is better than trying for days to sort something when you're not really sure what it is?

Formatting, I like the sound of that, well, that is if it means that I can start all over again?. This time without being such a .... .
Is that just putting my discs back in ?.

Yeah you have to have a copy of whatever operating system you wish to install on disc.

Put it in and follow the instructions. It's very straight forward.

Right after formatting is finished, upon first boot-up, defrag your machine. Most people don't do this but it really is necessary.

A Big Thanks to all, seems to be OK. And anything lost, could not have been that important that I cannot find it again.
Cheers,

I didn't realize that you really should do a defrag upon the first boot-up. I do them periodically though.
