I think that's pretty d*mn funny. Obviously the guy wasn't a "pro" or had no clue about drafting notation. I can see engineers enjoying this sort of detail.

thing is though, it would take a tradesman (who'd know about markings on paper) to make those cuts -what the hell!

Hmm. Interesting. So maybe it was his way of telling them the notation should be outside of the object. ie. "I make it like I see it."
