Showbiz news: Drug overdose killed Anna Nicole Smith

Post by carmelina »

Anna Nicole Smith died of an accidental drug overdose, officials in Florida have revealed.

The Playboy model, reality TV star and actress was found dead in a hotel in Seminole, Florida on February 8. She was 39.

Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper said that Smith accidentally overdosed on pain killers. She had been taking a variety of anti-anxiety drugs and pain killers at the time of her death.

Broward County Police Chief Charlie Tiger said that there were no signs of foul play and no evidence of illegal drugs.

He said: "We have reviewed hundreds of hours of video, tape captured by the hotel security cameras and we found nothing unusual."

I doubt it darlin. Now they're on with the inquest of the son and it's going to be long dragged out media coverage. I guess times are slow and they've nobody else to report on.

Thing that bothers me is they were human beings like everyone else, and there's one lady (for lack of a better term) on Court TV named Ashley Banfield that is so disgustingly obnoxious whilst reporting about Smith and her son that I have to switch it off or fear putting my foot through the telly. Good thing it's mounted on the wall to make me think more than twice!

I can understand some peoples feelings about Anna Nicole Smith as she didn't gain fame through anything other than being famous, and to me famous means nothing at the end of the day anyway, but to be so disrespectful to 2 people that have passed on really does bother me inside. I've been tempted more than once to email her and call her every name in the book but realised she's simply not worth the time of day.

This is off topic perhaps but I felt like saying it.

Larry Birkhead got a Fed Ex on Saturday, and it was not good news. It was a bill for legal services from Debri Opri, the lawyer he fired two weeks ago. The total: $620,492.84. Opri reportedly billed her services out at $475 an hour. In all, the packet of bills Birkhead received totaled 112 pages.

Opri offered Birkhead a bargain: Instead of the $620,492.84 bill, she offered him a discount at $511,365.09, but only if he accepts immediately. Opri wrote, "I'm still willing to accept the discounted billing at this time, but only without further discussion."

"I cannot comment on unauthenticated documents which were disseminated to the media under suspicious circumstances, and which are covered by the attorney-client privilege," Opri said to E! Online. "I can assure you, however, that all of the fees and expenses incurred on behalf of Mr. Birkhead were reasonable, necessary, and appropriate, given the complexity and magnitude of this very high profile case that was litigated in two different states and a foreign country," she said.

"BILLS: I HAVE NOT MADE ANY COMMENT REGARDING AN ATTORNEY'S BILL. I HAVE REMAINED SILENT ON THIS ISSUE AND RELATED ISSUES IN THE PAST AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO THE SO IN THE FUTURE," Birkhead writes on his webpage (his caps).
