Karl,

To record, you have a digital recorder (e.g. DVD recorder or digital camcorder) connected to sky box, or an AV capture card on your PC.

With a DVD recorder, you would take the recorded DVD and insert it into your PC.

With a digital camcorder, you would connect this to your PC for playback/record.

Is there no way to connect the sky box directly to my pc and then record from it onto the hard disk?

I don't believe the Sky Plus has a direct digital output (e.g. firewire which is the means to connect a PC to a camcorder).

Therefore, unless your PC has a video capture card (e.g. if it is a "Multi-Media PC"), then I don't think you can do it unless you go via a DVD recorder or Digital CamCorder.

p.s. If you want to double-check, do a google search on Sky Plus and PC recording

or you could ask in the media tips section and I'll post a rundown for you - I've been doing it for years.

Bloody hell - that's it put back a month! Still, that will give me the time to try and rustle up a dish and box.
