The most expensive car crash ever?

Rare Bugatti crashes into trees

A car worth more than £800,000 was involved in a collision with a van before crashing into trees. The accident occurred in heavy rain on a 40mph section of Renfree Way, Shepperton, Surrey, on Sunday. The rare Bugatti Veyron collided with a Vauxhall Astra van carrying a pregnant woman, who was taken to hospital as a precaution but later went home. No one else was hurt but police have reported the Bugatti driver for driving without due care and attention.

Surrey Police said the luxury car was driven by a man who had a male passenger with him. A man and a woman were travelling in the Astra. The accident occurred at 1440 GMT and the road was closed until 1630 GMT. The eight-litre, hand-crafted Veyron has a top speed in excess of 250mph and its 1,000 horsepower can take the Bugatti from 0 to 60mph in 2.5 seconds.

I read this morning that the guy driving (well crashing) his bro's car couldn't talk to cops for over 1/2 hours as he was crying too much.

Earlier he had been tearing up & down that bit of road, telling people it was his car & letting strangers in it (on the pul maybe?).

The owner, his bro, was mega pissed (as he should be).

I got this same message and it said it was the son driving the dad's car.

I'd be too paranoid to drive a car like that incase something like that happened. I bet the cost of insurance is reallllllly expensive.

I'd be crying like a baby if I crashed it I tell ye, and if it wasn't mine I'd be booking a flight far far away to escape the possible beating coming my way

I find it really funny that someone was prepared to spend so much money on a trinket such as that just to see it destroyed. I'd love to have seen the guy's face crumble - it would have made my day.

That car is awesome. Did you all see it on Top Gear?

here's that clip: it is a very cool piece of work, even if I'd mock anyone who bought one!

Poor guy! Just imagine how you would feel if you had just managed to write of a car almost woth a million quid!!! I think I wouldn't bother going home Funnily enough it doesn't say why the Bugatti crashed into the van or whose fault it was ...

Oh my god! Gutted, lol!!

Reminds me of the report about that eccentric art collector who was planning on auctioning one of his super valuable canvasses about a year back. Apparently he was displaying it and talking about it to a room of arty people, but he got too excited and as he was enthusiastically waving his arms around he put his elbow right through the canvas! I think the piece was predicted to auction for millions.

Ohh that is nice. I love the colour but I'd prefer one in pink myself. Is that the same kind of car that was in the film Christine?

Nope. Christine was a 1958 Plymouth Fury that is a 1957 Chevy Bel Air. Pink would be nice too, but blue is my favorite color.

Image Here's Christine! :wow: Quick change it from the Oldies station....if she'll let you!

Twirley] I have to agree with you there.

I don't hate rich people, but if you can afford 800,000 pounds for a car (what's that, about $ 1.5 mil US?) I can't feel much sympathy for you when your lethario brother / raging hormone son crash it into a tree.
