The cooking challenged

Post by Skylace »

Many of us in the world love to cook. There is nothing more exhilarating then frying up an egg or making a bowl of oatmeal (except for sex of course). But there are some in the world, some that have been cursed since birth with two left spatulas. They could burn cornflakes. However, they are not without hope. They work hard to beat their culinary disasters. These people, the cooking challenged. Some even need to be taken to the store to be shown how to shop without having a heart attack. Some may take longer than others but there is hope, always, there is hope. Here they can tell their stories. Their triumphs, their tribulations, their fears. Even share advice on how to not make something. We welcome you all. No one is shunned here. Even those of us who are beaten by the eggs and whipped by the cream.

Hi...my name is girl dork and I have two left spatulas. I come by it honestly as I come from a family full of nothing but left spatulas. I can catch a kitchen on fire by just walking into it (and I'm not talking about my hot body here). Sky seems to think there is hope. Alas, I don't think there is. I've been learning to cook for about 17 years now and I still can't get it right. I walk into the kitchen and pots and pans cringe. I'll be more than happy to share my experiences with you guys. I like entertaining people and making them laugh.

To start, I'll tell you a little about my ancestry. My grandmother once cooked a cake for my grandfather. She was so embarassed that before he came back home, she buried the cake in the back yard.

Welcome back girldork. Nice to see you again.

I've also had my share of cooking disasters but think I can pass as a reasonable cook. I tend not to burn things a lot, but am more the "forget to put on the oven type".
