Royle Family - new episode

ROYLE QUEEN
Nicola Methven And Polly Hudson

HOT news from the set of The Royle Family, where the stars are working on their first new show since 2000. We've heard that the title of the one-off special is The Queen Of Sheba. Whatever could that mean? Well, bearing in mind that baby David is now six years old, we reckon by this time our Denise might have had a little baby girl - who could perhaps have everyone wrapped around her little finger.

Of course, the title could refer to Denise herself - as she has traditionally ruled the roost in the Royle household - or to mum Barbara. In fact, it could even be Nana. We'll just have to wait and see.

---------------

Excellent - it took me a couple of years to get into this when it was first on, but I becamse a big fan so I'll be looking forward to this...

I think this is the one my dad likes. I don't think I've seen it.

ROYLES BACK 6 YEARS ON FROM TOT'S BIRTH
MY, JUST LOOK AT HOW BABY DAVID'S GROWN..

By Nicola Methven, Tv Editor

It seems like only yesterday he was being born on Jim's bathroom floor... but that was nearly six years ago, and just look at how baby David's shot up. Now called Little David, he is part of the new-look Royle Family - back for a one-off special on Sunday. He is the spitting image of his dad Dave. But then again the lad is actor Craig Cash's real-life son Harry.

Some things haven't changed in the Royle household. Jim (Ricky Tomlinson) and Denise are as bone idle as ever, glued to their chairs while watching, and moaning about, TV shows. Barbara, played by Sue Johnston, still sips endless cups of TV. But nana has now moved in, much to Jim's dismay, and the show - called The Queen of Sheba - is all about the gran, played by 84-year-old Liz Smith. And former layabout Antony (Ralf Little) is now a high-flying businessman who has moved out of the house but pops in on his way to a conference.

Ricky, 66, said the show is the best he's worked on. He added: "When seasoned cameramen stuff paper hankies into their mouths to stop themselves laughing during takes, you know you're on to a winner."

---------------

I thought this wasn't on til later in the year, so this is great...

F-ing great! I was half expecting this to be Christmas Day special.

I can hardly wait. I've no doubt this will be a big ratings winner, and if the cast like it so much, maybe we could see another series?

a new series would be great for sure - I can't see any reason why not either. As long as Caroline Aherne can keep her head anyway!

I thought it was shite. Yet another good British comedy down the toilet due to it going way over the top. It was cringe-worthy in parts.

I shall pass my officially sanctioned comedy-geek eye over it and I hope I won't agree...

ok, my official verdict is that they dragged the death out too much. Sad as it was, it just didn't work for me - they should have just suggested it instead of all the focus on it.
