NEW YORK, October 7 (newratings.com) ? Internet search giant Google Inc (GOOG.NAS) is in talks to acquire online video site YouTube for about $1.6 billion in cash and stock, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Discussions between Mountain View, California-based Google and San Mateo-based YouTube are still at a sensitive stage, the newspaper mentioned. The acquisition will make sense for Google, which has cash in hand worth $10 billion, according to analysts. The company?s own video site, launched in January 2005, has not been very successful so far. YouTube was founded in February last year by the former employees of eBay's PayPal electronic-payment unit.

That would have to be a record for a company that has just started... 19 months old and worth 1.6 billion $?
