Animals strut stuff at 'Olympics'

Creatures great and small have displayed some unusual talents at the 2006 Animal Olympics in China.

The Shanghai Wild Animal Park has hosted the event, featuring an elephant carrying an "Olympic" torch and animals such as zebras and mountain goats in events including hurdles and races.

Bears and monkeys rode bicycles around a large arena, and a kangaroo boxed with a man in a clown suit.

I wonder if the Kangaroos were French....sacre bleu!!!

here's a couple of pics taken at the event - what century is this meant to be ffs? The Chinese have a long way to go with human rights though, so I suppose it will be a long time before they get a clue about animal rights... but do you need to have an understanding of philosophy to not want to batter a kangaroo?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. That country is full of the most disgusting set of bastards the way they treat animals.

If the pricks aren't killing them for no logical reason, they're chomping down on them like scavengers.

How dare they use them in this despicable manner for a source of entertainment? They literally make me sick!
