Man saws off his own foot to avoid work - before throwing it in oven
An Austrian man has taken extreme measures in a bid to avoid work, sawing off his own foot and throwing the appendage into an oven.

The unemployed man was due to attend a meeting at the Labour Office to assess his health in order to see if he was fit to work, according to Austrian broadcaster ORF. Police in Mitterlabill, southern Austria, said the 56-year-old sliced his foot off above the ankle with a mechanical saw, before throwing it into an oven. He then hobbled into his garage bleeding profusely and called the emergency services.
Local police chief Franz Fasching said the man had lost a lot of blood but was still conscious when officers arrived at the scene. Emergency services 'looked in the oven and were able to recover the foot', Mr Fasching said. 'The foot was taken the hospital but it was so badly burned that it cannot be sewn back on.'
