Banned from George Galloway's facebook page.

Post by faceless »

I just looked at GG's page on facebook and I've been banned from it.

In the past two weeks I'd posted 2 comments on there - one about the reason why Press TV lost its licence (because they refused to pay a fine and not because it was "an attack on free speech" as GG kept saying) and the other was showing support for someone who asked about Scotland.

I should say that I don't use my real name on there, so they don't know it's me. But that shouldn't matter. I didn't say anything offensive or even brusque.

thats a bit out of order. do you know if galloway updates his own facebook, or has someone to do it for him? you should phone him up friday and give him some grief!

do you know why press tv refused to pay the fine? i see on some of the wikileaks that the government had been looking for ways to get rid of presstv, so for presstv to hand them a chance on a plate seems stupid

He's away for the next couple of weeks, so no talkSPORT... but I'm thinking I might pop my cherry and call in for a wee bit of banter.

I don't know why they refused to pay the fine (£100k), but as you say - refusing to pay it cut their own throat. I'm sure it was an entirely monetary decision though.

You're probably right about their refusal to pay being about £'s rather than principles. Unless they've launched a court action to dispute it (assuming they have legal recourse).

It's surprising that your free speech rights are not held to the same standard by whoever is administering GG's facebook page as GG is demanding for PressTV, or indeed himself. One shouldn't have to name drop or know someone to have their say...

Sure you didn't call someone a cunt? I'll bet you wish you had now. :D

haha, well in this instance, I didn't!

I'm 'friends' with Kevin Ovenden on there though, so I've sent him a message asking if he can sort it.

The guy who wrote that blog has been on The Real Deal and seems to be doing ok for himself lately.

If you mean on the pages here, I did have a link to there a few years ago, but he was posting less and less about GG, so it became less relevant. Then I updated things and the whole link section on the archive pages are a single update that works for all of those pages.

Not from this site , from GG's old website and it seemed to disappear around the fracas of the Socialists/Respect years back and I think Richard Seymour (LENIN) may have offended GG, but I have never identified by what and when.

Nope, I sent a message to Kevin Ovenden, but he didn't bother replying, so bollocks to the lot of them really.
