News From Rapidshare

Post by piper99 »

The folks at RapidShare came out with the following message on their
Facebook page to make it clear they're staying put:

Dear RapidShare fans:

You posted some comments on our wall today regarding the shutdown
of Megaupload. There is no reason to be concerned.
We distinguish ourselves from services like Megaupload in many major
issues and we aren’t threatened in any way.
One of the main differences between RapidShare and Megaupload
is that we never wanted to escape from the legal access of
any administration. RapidShare AG was founded in Switzerland,
was always based at the address cited in the imprint and was always
managed with an authentic name without any anonymous
intermediary companies.
The drastic measures against Megaupload were obviously seen as
necessary by the FBI because the situation was different there.

We wish you a great time with RapidShare!

- FileSonic - the news is arbitrary (under FBI investigation).
- VideoBB - Closed! would disappear soon.
- Uploaded - Banned U.S. and the FBI went after the owners who are gone.
- FilePost - Deleting all material (so will leave executables, pdfs, txts)
- Videoz - closed and locked in the countries affiliated with the USA.
- 4shared - Deleting files with copyright and waits in line at the FBI.
- MediaFire - Called to testify in the next 90 days and it will open doors pro FBI
-Org torrent - could vanish with everything within 30 days "he is under criminal investigation"
- Network Share mIRC - awaiting the decision of the case to continue or terminate Torrente everything.
- Koshiki - operating 100% Japan will not join the SOUP / PIPA
- Shienko Box - 100% working china / korea will not join the SOUP / PIPA

bloody hell, that's a bit of a disaster. I'm guessing/hoping that some new sites will appear that work entirely on private links.

This is the beginning of the end of the net as we know it... just gotta take in to consideration what else they gonna decide blacklist, block, censor and all else.... the SOOPAPOOPA Bill is gonna shaft the net...

Hopefully some of these sites will be ressurected snd hosted in countries that dont recognise western copyright or FBI and the like. Tunisia, China, Far East all safe... but i know with the technology they got now the net police will manage to block stuff from those countries on our western servers......

legally, there's no way they can close all companies as file-sharing itself is legal. They'll probably just make them have to filter stuff better.

on file sharing uploaders there used to be a motto ...

"make mirrors"

everything got spread out nicely and if the rars were properly passworded, and then no site op could see what was in 'em.

Then came the bonus points/dollars for thousands of downloads, along with the sites that got popular and advertised one file sharing agent or another. They made their pennies by saying the exact opposite, "Respect my uploads by NOT making mirrors" ...

I got 1.7 mb / sec off of rapidshare yesterday, bring back the good ol' daze .. ha hah
