The stupidest post you've ever seen on a forum

I was just on a site where the admin had posted, in public, a detailed explanation of how he's circumvented the Whitehouse website to enable anyone to link directly to search-engine blocked sections.

I said to him, politely, that this was a foolish thing to do as it's a perfect example of hacking that even a public jury could understand, then suggested that he should remove it... His reply was smarmy and defensive, refusing the advice. My reply was 'you're a fucking idiot then' and left it at.

Can you beat that for stupid? There's a weekend on the Isle of Loch Tummel for the best example!

Face, first of all you are correct in that the Admin is an idiot. But more importantly, way to go stepping up and reminding him that it's just asking for trouble. Just don't forget to drop him a line while he's in prison to say that you warned him.

I hope he's had the sense to get a clue after recovering from the poke in the eye. But I thought I'd leave it a while before going back to check. Who knows who's watching now! haha

I agree it is just asking for trouble.

So I understand the background, is this content which can be manually viewed, but is just blocked off from search-engines ?

Are the white house's concern that they want the views on their site ?

it can all be manually viewed yes, but you need to take the information from the site's robots.txt file in order to know what's what.

It's just pathetic ultra-low level hacking really, but considering that it's the White House you know that it could be made to look a whole lot worse.

I went back today and the guy's calling me a 'government shill' because I pointed out what an idiot he is... haha To emphasise the stupidity of his post, he uses his real name and has a picture of himself as his avatar... :crazed:

Anyway here's something else I just found:
A.Complete Dolt wrote:Today i have had a user unknown to me add me to thei friends list - and send a request for me to add them to theirs. i have not authorised this user as a friend of mine but i am presented with a preview of the files he has and i can see they are pornagraphic videos.

how is it posible that ***** are allowing users to push files at me without my authorisation. i seem to have no way to delete myself from this users freind list so even if i dont add him to my friends i still see his pornagraphic videos whenever i view my ***** community page.
admin wrote: At present we don't have the option to block a user though this is in the pipeline. Users can share things with you and this is abused by a minority of users.

In the immediate term, could you let us know the user in question and we will deal with it.
A.Complete Dolt wrote: This is now getting to be a serious problem - i now have 4 users who have added me as "freinds" i am in disbelife that you did not think that this would become an issue and provide the ability to block users.

I recomend that you release a new version of your software as a matter of urgency to correct this. I would suggest that you have options that give the end user the choice of always accepting, asking each time, or qallways rejecting freind requests.

without downloading any files i am being presented with hardcore pornographic images in the "latest files" preview panel just by clicking on the counity tab.
faceless wrote:maybe if you didn't have a load of 'Bang Bros' porn videos in your public folder people wouldn't think that you were into sharing stuff like it. Just a blindingly obvious thought.

Very funny indeed. Without giving away the specific usernames, is this on a major social networking site (e.g. myspace, facebook etc.) ?

Or is this "open source" software ?
