Has anyone used Keepvid to capture YouTube etc. ?
I came across it on
https://digitalliving.cnet.co.uk/insider ... 714,00.htm
and a search on Couchtripper for "Keepvid" found no postings.

The thing with KeepVid is that all it does is pluck the file out of your cache - and you can do that yourself manually, so it's useful but somewhat unnecessary.
I quite like the "YouTube Downloader" application by FDR Labs. I think there was a post here about it a while back... The cool thing about that is you can select what format you want to download in, ie. mpg, avi, wmv etc...

Thanks.
FYI, I looked in the firefox cache [type about:cache in FF] but didn't see the youtube .flv file. I also looked in the cache of IE (file location : Tools > Internet Options > Settings) and no sign of a .flv or other large file (even whilst viewing youtube).
FYI, there seems to be an update of real player :

The flv files in your cache generally won't have a file extension, so they won't be recognisable as flv files. They'll just be called something like "get_video?video_id=********" with no dot flv at the end. Once you copy/paste them from out of the cache, you need to rename them with the flv extension, and then they become usable.
