Site down

I'm sure some of you will have noticed that the site keeps going off for a short while every now and then - I've been assured by the hosts that this was an unresolved DNS issue which they are sorting and which should be ok within 72 hours at the latest. For those that don't know, DNS is the system which tells your browser where to look when you type a website name rather than the actual IP address...

Cheers for the heads up. I managed to get back on by going via the cached site from a yahoo search ;)

well there was another 'hiccup' with the server company today as the entire SQL server went down... this also affected the server company's site and when it got to half-an-hour I thought I'd phone them up. It turned out they weren't even aware what was going on with their own site... still, it's sorted now and the lassie I spoke to was nice.

As a backup, are you able to export/backup the SQL database to a file (which is later downloaded to your local PC) ?

Hate to think what would happen if all CT chats are lost :(

I do backup the stuff regularly so it would have been ok - if anything does happen in the future it might mean losing a few days at most, but the vast majority will be ok

They didn't even know something was wrong with their own server? You should get some sort of credit or something for letting them know.
