United's new home and away shirts are a celebration of 50 years since the Busby Babes' first league championship.
The Nike designed strip has a 1950?s retro style ? a tribute to the success of the Busby Babes and their enduring influence ? and will carry the logo of AIG, the club's new shirt sponsor.
Sir Matt Busby's principles of youth, courage and success bore the ultimate fruit 50 years ago in 1956, when the Babes clinched the League Championship. That landmark success had been several years in the making as young players progressed from winning the inaugural FA Youth Cup in 1952 to establishing themselves in the first team.
By the end of the 1954/55 season almost all the old guard - the players who had won the FA Cup in 1948 - had been edged out by a generation of burgeoning talent. One year on, this youthful team won the title. The home shirt will be revealed on 14 July, during the pre-season tour of South Africa, and will go on sale, globally, on 27 July 2006. The away kit will be launched on 24 August. As special edition celebratory shirts, they will be available for one season only.
This is the away shirt so far. Isn't that wicked
