Weird canned foods from around the world

Thousands of years of human civilisation have brought us to the cheeseburger in a can. It looks pretty good, but we suspect the real thing doesn't look anywhere near as appetising...

...Yep, just as we suspected

Here's another one where the picture on the outside of the can doesn't prepare you for the horrors that wait inside

How do you like your armadillo? Sun dried and road tenderised...?

Roadrunner meat. As sold by the Acme Corporation, presumably

Powdered horse milk. 100% horse milk - no ponies

These are not just crickets. There are roasted crickets, with eggs...

...and these are not just frogs' legs. These are gourmet frogs' legs, with spicy holy basil...

...and these are not just scorpions. These are smokey BBQ roasted scorpions

Preserved black scorpions? We would have thought the best way to preserve black scorpions would be by not killing them and putting them in a jar

Give your favourite relative a canned relative of Rudolph this Christmas

Dale's Wild West, purveyors of smoked rattlesnake...

...elk au jus...

...buffalo au jus...

...and alligator, cajun style

"Road weary" potted potted possum sauce. It's a southern surprise, apparently. We're glad to see it's been improved, too

Quail eggs in a can? Oh, tasty joy!

Buzzard gizzard - now that's a mouthful

Weaver ants' eggs, from the appropriately-named bizarrefood.com

We can't decide which sounds less alluring: mole crickets or brown curry

BBQ flavour bamboo worms? Sounds like an item served to D-list celebs in a Bushtucker Trial...

...and here's another one. Giant bug chili paste? I'm a celebrity, get me out of here
that in chicken in a can looks absolutely disgusting!
