McCain picks female running mate - Sarah Palin
While stitching a cut on the hand of a 75 year old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President.
The old rancher said: 'well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle.' Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle is.
The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle.'
The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to explain...You know she didn't get up there by herself, she doesn't belong up there, she doesn't know what to do while she is up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put her up there in the first place.

well that was a disappointment! i was hoping for some train wreck from palin, but she actually did pretty well - i mean i didn't agree with her, or biden for that matter, but she's obviously been in training and done well at it, she stuck to her talking points and didn't deviate from them and didn't go off waffling rubbish like she has done in some of her interviews when she doesn't know the questions that are coming. i'm disappointed really, i didn't watch it for the debate ( because i assumed they'd fit into the same world view framework that the first presidential debate did and the media present - and it did ) i watched because i wanted to see a train wreck!
Her not fucking up is basically a win for the Republicans.
I found it really offensive the way she grinned every time she talked about blunders in the war.
If you're kid was one of the 10s of thousands killed in the war and then you had to watch her big fucking smile as she said that again and again before at the end bringing her kids up onto the stage I'm guessing you might get a tad cross.
This is how terrorists are created...

She did okay, but not great. She came across as Barbie having her string pulled. She did avoid questions though, which wasn't good. If she didn't know the answer she rambled on and on, talked about Alaska, etc. There was even one point where she called America Alaska.
Her "home-spun" gosh-darn it talking actually drove me batty as it was obvious she was laying it on thick.
Personally, I know this will all be forgotten by Monday as we gear up again for the next P debates.
I did laugh out loud though at her "I am so glad to hear we both love Israel" comment. She said it the way a fairy princess would have in a Disney film.
Did she crash and burn? No. But she didn't come across as strong as Biden.

Post turtle...beautiful! I too was hoping for a complete flop by Palin, but she did better than I expected...although I didn't expect much from her so just walking out without falling would have done it! Neither one answered the questions posed of them, but I think that Biden came closer to answering than Palin did. I just don't like her and her "down home" crap is really irritating. "Say it ain't so, Joe..." Really?
